Who is Ustadh Mustafa?
At the age of 11 Ustadh Mustafa left the United Kingdom and embarked on a new learning journey in Islamic education. At the age of 12, he completed his Quran memorisation under Shaykh Waliullah who originates from Pakistan at Majlis Al-Ma'arif Al-Islamiyyah, Kenya. Furthermore, at the tender age of 13 Ustadh Mustafa started leading congregational prayers and has since then, continued to do so. He has now gone on to lead Tarawih at East London Mosque in the United Kingdom and several other places.
After completing his Hifdh, he went on to study Arabic and Islamic Sciences. In 2010, Ustadh Mustafa attended the International University of Africa to read for LLB in sharia law. At his time there because of his good conduct and performance, he was awarded a scholarship and later graduated with first class, honours, in 2014.
In 2014 when he returned to the UK, he went on to further his education to help further his career. He obtained a MA in International Law at the University of East London and graduated in 2020. In addition, alongside furthering his studies at the University, he has been an Imam at Masjid Al Noor (Barking), has participated in numerous of charity work in the form of public speaking with several organisations including but not limited to East London Mosque, Hounslow Muslim Centre, Faith Inspire.
Throughout the years in between studying Ustadh Mustafa has been educating young adults and children. The subjects he teaches consists of Quran, classical Arabic, and Islamic sciences. Ustadh Mustafa is very passionate about these subjects and is eager to educate the wider community. His eagerness and compassion to pass down knowledge has led to the establishment of Mustafa’s Academy, an online educational institution catered to all ages. Ustadh Mustafa identified the widespread lack of basic Islamic knowledge amongst our communities and questioned himself what that meant for the future, our children, the youth and our religion.
This was the paramount reason for the establishment of Mustafa’s Academy. His dream was therefore to create a generation of scholars. A generation of scholars for our future is his longstanding dream which he desires to fulfil through the academy by producing students that will be able to have answers to the identity crisis we face in the west, and the constant questions surrounding their religion and daily lives. Through the academy Ustadh Mustafa has been able, by the will of Allah, to produce young imams who are now leading at different mosques.
In addition, Ustadh Mustafa has gone on to achieve his Ijaza in Fiqh in the Maliki school of thought.
Currently, Ustadh is a presenter of the Alif Laam Meem programme at Eman channel which runs everyday from 6pm to 7.30pm UK time, an Imam at Masjid Al Noor, public speaker and an instructor at Mustafa’s Academy. Ustadh Mustafa is continuing the path of fulfilling his dream of producing young scholars with the help of those dearest to him his colleagues, peers and teachers who work closely with him at the academy.
